「モンスタ Monsta」として知られるUldis Cirulisは、ラトビアで最も経験豊富なDJ/エレクトロニカミュージシャンの1人。13歳からDJとしてミュージシャンのキャリアをスタート。

レコードミックスに加えて、彼はTURNATBLISM（スクラッチおよびジャグリングテクニック）の技術を開発し、「Red Bull Thre3Style」および「DMC Online Championship」のDJコンペティションで高い評価を得る。バルトエエリアおよびロシアのヒップホップアーティストとのコラボレーションが人気。

昨今は子供と大人のためのDJ教室を開くなど、DJの裾野を広げる活動も展開。ラトビアのラジオ「Riga Radio」では音楽エディターとして、またラジオ番組「Sound Round(ラジオ「Naba」、ラジオ「Riga Radio」、ラジオ「SWH」で放送中)」では制作担当としても活躍。

モンスタのDJテクニックと、エレクトロニカのパフォーマンスは、ジャズ、アカデミック、および伝統的な演奏家との共演で、音楽的可能性を広げる大きな意味を持つ。1998年以来、世界的に有名なラトビアのジャズミュージシャン、 Deniss Pashkevichとのコラボレーションで、5枚のアルバムに参加。2009年よりカナダのサックス奏者兼作曲家Nick(プロジェクト名：NiMo)と、ラトビア国立交響楽団（LNSO）とのコラボレーションプロジェクトもスタート。 LNSO、オーケストラリガ、ラトビア放送合唱団、trio Art-i-Shock、青少年合唱団「Balsis」、現代音楽作曲家、その他の多くのミュージシャンの協力により、エレクトロニカアーティストとして、モンスタの視野と創造性のプロフェッショナリズムが拡大。 ワールドミュージックプロジェクト「ZeMe」は、ラトビア伝統弦楽器クアクレの名手Laima Jansoneとの共演で大成功を収め、ラトビア、ロシア、カザフスタン、キルギスタン、イタリア、日本、フィンランド、アラブ首長国連邦などで公演を行う。 モンスタとしてはこれまで4枚のアルバムをプロデュース、リリースし、そのすべてがLatvian Music Record Awardsにノミネートされる快挙を達成している。

モンスタはエレクトロニカ、インプロビゼーション、その他多くのスタイルで作曲、プロデュース、ライブを行っているラトビア発の大注目次世代ミュージシャン。

Uldis Cirulis, known as Monsta, is one of the most experienced DJs and electronic musicians in Latvia. Has been involved in music since age of 13 as a DJ. Alongside mixing records, he developed the art of turnatblism (scratch and juggling techniques) and has achieved good results in dj competitions - Red Bull Thre3Style and DMC Online Championship. Collaborated with Baltic and Russian Hip Hop artists.

Now Monsta teach dj-ing and production for kids and adults. Worked as music editor in radio Riga Radio and created radio show “Sound Round” (been on air in radio “Naba”, radio “Riga Radio” and radio “SWH”).

Monsta virtuosity of dj-ing and the art of creating live electronic music performances opened opportunities to perform together with jazz, academic and traditional music musicians. With the world famous Latvian jazz musician Deniss Pashkevich collaborates since 1998, participated in 5 his albums. In 2009 Monsta and Canadian saxophonist and composer Nick (project NiMo), started collaborate with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO). Cooperation with LNSO, Orchestra Riga, The Latvian Radio Choir, trio Art-i-Shock, youth choir “Balsis”, modern music composers and other academic music musicians has expanded Monsta’s horizons and professionalism of creativity, as electronic musician. A successful cooperation has been established with kokle virtuoso Laima Jansone in creating the world music project ZeMe. They have performed in Latvia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Japan, Finland, UAE etc. Monsta has produced and released 4 albums, all of which have been nominated for the Latvian Music Record Awards. Monsta compose, produce, perform electronic music live, improvise and combine variety of styles with ease.
